The CIAA has finished window shopping four months after Russell Athletics announced it was getting out of the college uniform business. The conference has agreed to an exclusive apparel, footwear, and equipment deal with Under Armour, according to a release on its website. The partnership will be facilitated through BSN Sports. The SIAC announced a similar partnership with Nike through BSN in 2017. The CIAA’s deal with Under Armour begins on July 1, 2018.
Jacqie McWilliams, CIAA Commissioner, commented, “The ability to partner with prestigious brands such as Under Armour and BSN SPORTS affirms the growth and enhancement of our Conference. We are thrilled to announce this milestone. As one of the most distinguished providers of sports and fitness apparel, shoes and accessories, I know the experiences of our student-athletes and coaches will be greatly enhanced by access to these two industry-leading companies.”
Under Armour’s growing presence
The CIAA conference joins Hampton, Howard and Edward Waters as HBCUs that are outfitted by Under Armour.
The deal gives CIAA schools access to Under Armour game and practice uniforms, shoes, and training equipment. According to the release, alumni, fans, students, and parents will have special online purchase opportunities.
