HBCU graduation rates mixed bag in revenue sports

The latest NCAA report shows that HBCU Graduation Success Rates for revenue schools are a mixed bag. Pretty much either really good or really bad.

Federal graduation rates mixed bag, too

The NCAA’s report also includes Federal Graduation Rate. FGR is the proportion of first-year, full-time student-athletes who entered a school on athletics aid and graduated from that institution within six years. It counts all transfers as academic failures.

Howard, NCCU and Delaware State all topped the average FGR in men’s basketball. Only Arkansas-Pine Bluff (75) topped the national average.

South Carolina State, Norfolk State, Howard and NC A&T all topped the national FGR in football for the MEAC. Mississippi Valley was the lone SWAC school to exceed it in football.

Alabama State, Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Jackson State, Alabama A&M and Prairie View all exceeded the FGR in women’s basketball. Coppin State, Maryland-Eastern Shore, Howard and Norfolk State all did the same in the MEAC.
