With the victory, the Lady Panthers improve to 13-7 on the season and receive an automatic bid into the NCAA tournament starting Nov. 15, while Howard ends its season 14-4 overall.
“It was a great final match for us and it was great for us to get that goal to help our team win the championship,” said PVAMU head coach Sonia Curvelo. “We worked extremely hard to put ourselves in this position. Our players made the plays today and that helped us win the game. I’d like to thank our players and staff for all of the hard work they put in this entire season.”
Prairie View A&M has learned its destination to begin the NCAA Tournament, as the Lady Panthers head to the Bay Area to take on No. 1 overall seed Stanford.
“I think it’s going to be an exciting moment and experience for all of us,” PVAMU Head Soccer Coach Sonia Curvelo said. “To play the number one team in the country is obviously going to be difficult, but at the end of the day it’s about enjoying the experience and doing the best that we can.”
The Lady Panthers and the Cardinal face off on Friday at 9 p.m. CST (7 p.m. local) at Cagan Stadium in Stanford, Calif. Tickets will go on sale tomorrow at 11 a.m. CST (9 a.m. local time). For more information, visit GoStanford.com.
