Jalen Rouse led the way for Tennessee State, accumulating a team-high 87 rushing yards to set the tone. The defense put on a clinic, racking up four sacks on the evening. The Tigers executed their game plan well and have a lot to build upon going forward.
Holding on to the ball was a big issue for the Bethune-Cookman offense, as they gave up four turnovers in their loss against Tennessee State. Losing 94 yards to penalties certainly also played a role in their struggles. Jalon Jones was a noticeable bright spot. He rushed for 116 yards and one touchdown to lead Bethune-Cookman in the loss.
The futility ends for Tennessee State as they try to put together back to back wins with next weekend’s game. Next weekend’s road game could be a good opportunity for a win. Tennessee Tech has a losing record, which may be favorable, but it offers no guarantees. On the other side, Bethune-Cookman now sits at 1-4 on the year. Their next game is also on Oct. 15. They’ll be looking to rebound against Jackson State.
