Morgan State women pull off comeback against rival Coppin State

Coppin State ended the seasons of both of Morgan State’s basketball teams in the first round of the MEAC tournament in 2019. On the women’s side, the Lady Eagles defeated the Lady Bears, 50-48. The Lady Bears got their revenge with a comeback victory on the road in a 47-42 affair on Saturday.

The task was not easy as the Lady Eagles started the game strong. Despite the momentum, the Lady Bears were only down seven at halftime.

Down by as much as 12 towards the end of the third quarter, the Lady Bears turned the heat up on their rivals. This started with Ashia McCalla. She scored 17 points and only missed five minutes of play. Chelsea Mitchell added 15 points as well.

The key to its win was costly CSU turnovers within the last seconds of the game. And with the added free throws, the Lady Bears came out on top.
