Hampton announced it was ready to be a player on the Big South scene not once but twice Thurday night.
Both the Hampton men and women used big games by star players to come up big for the first home wins in its new conference Hampton Convocation Center.

The Hampton women set the tone with a 68-54 win over Radford as Mahaley Holt nearly messed around and got a triple-double. The sophomore guard scored 32 points, grabbed nine rebounds and added nine assists for the women.
The Hampton women are now 7-7 overall and 3-0 in the Big South.
Historic win for men
The men came up with a 94-82 win thanks to a clutch late run and a big game by Jermaine Marrow. The Pirates went on a 19-2 run over seven minutes in the second half, stretching its lead to 18 at one point.
Marrow, Hampton’s electric junior guard, put up 35 points and six assists in the win. It’s the fourth time this season he’s broken the 30-point barrier. Trevond Barnes added 21 points in the win. Hampton improved to 6-8 overall and 1-0 in the Big South.
Hampton will take on UNC-Asheville on Saturday at home.
