Grambling State’s Chad Williams drafted by Arizona Cardinals

Chad Williams was only offered one Division I scholarship coming out of high school in Baton Rouge, LA. Four years later, he’s now officially an NFL player.

The Grambling State product was taken in the third round, 98th overall by the Arizona Cardinals. He was the first HBCU product chosen in the 2017 NFL Draft.

Williams caught 210 passes in his career for 28 touchdowns, and capped it off with a spectacular senior season. He caught 90 passes for 1,337 yards and 11 touchdowns while helping Grambling win the SWAC title and the Celebration Bowl.

He’ll join a receiving corps that includes future Pro Football Hall of Famer Larry Fitzgerald. He’s a young man with a smile as big as his talent and will have a perfect pro role model in Fitzgerald.
