Coming off a year where Howard football landed in the HBCU national championship game, there’s a lot of excitement surrounding the Bison. In 2024 there’ll be even more opportunities for eyeballs to land on the program.
The season opener with Howard at Rutgers has been moved from Saturday August 31, to Thursday August 29. The move allows the game to be broadcasted live on the Big Ten Network. Kickoff for this game is at 6 p.m., inside SHI Stadium.
The schedule changes are not only impacting non-conference play but a key HBCU matchup as well. In November, the Bison will face off against rival North Carolina Central for a Friday night affair. Howard and NCCU will move their game up one day from November 16 to November 15. The move to Friday allows the game to be broadcasted on ESPNU at 8 p.m.
Last year’s NCCU versus Howard matchup was a key moment in deciding the MEAC’s participant in the Celebration Bowl.
Howard denied NCCU a return to Atlanta with an overpowering 50-20 victory over the Eagles.
Quinton Williams had his eyes on the endzone in Howard’s win. He threw for three touchdowns and rushed for another one, wreaking havoc on North Carolina Central’s defense. That football game may not be far from the Eagle’s minds when Howard visits the Bull City in 2024.
