Duke University transfer lands at HBCU

Former Duke University wide receiver Mehki Wall is taking his talents to Durham’s HBCU – North Carolina Central University.

Wall made his announcement via social media on Thursday.

“I’m blessed to announce I’ll be continuing the rest of my college career at the Illustrious North Carolina Central University,” Wall tweeted.

Rated as a three-star by 247Sports, the former Greensbro Dudley star was listed at 5’10, 165 pounds. He was also an accomplished hurdler, winning individual state 3A titles in both the 110m and 300m hurdles. During the COVID-shortened high school football season that spring, he had 31 receptions, 459 yards, and five touchdowns while running for three more and adding two on special teams. He was rated as the 86th-best prospect in the 2022 class

He had offers from UNC, Duke, North Carolina State, Wake Forest, Syracuse and several other FBS schools like ODU and Liberty. He was offered by HBCUs like Florida A&M, Alabama A&M, Norfolk State and North Carolina A&T.

He eventually committed to Duke University. He caught six passes for 38 yards in 2023, including a touchdown against UVA.

But he will be heading to North Carolina Central, the HBCU where his father Michael played with current head coach Trei Oliver. NCCU will be looking to replace several key offensive players and Wall will be an interesting new addition.
