Jackson State football announces changes to its coaching staff

Jackson, Miss. – Jackson State football head coach T.C. Taylor has announced changes and additions to his 2024 football staff. 

Otis Riddley, who currently serves as assistant head coach/tight ends, will be promoted and have the added title of general manager. He has been a part of the Jackson State football staff since 2019. 

Torenzo Quinn, the defensive backs/defensive passing game coordinator, will be promoted to defensive coordinator. Quinn is in his second year with the Tigers after spending the 2022 season at Alcorn State University as the Braves’ safeties coach. 

Brandon Morton, who served as the running backs coach a season ago, will assume the new role of recruiting coordinator. Morton is entering his third year with the Tigers after a year as running backs coach and a year as a graduate assistant. 

Jackson State football head coach T.C. Taylor has announced staff changes and additions to his 2024 football staff.

Joining the staff this year will be Manny Ramirez as the run game coordinator and offensive line coach; Kali James, who will serve as the defensive run game coordinator and defensive line coach; Vincent Marshall, who will join the staff as the new wide receivers coach; Eric Gallon, who will join the staff as the new running backs coach; and JSU alumnus Javance Jones, who will serve as the special teams coordinator and outside linebackers coach. 

Ramirez comes to Jackson State after the past two seasons at Texas Southern University as the offensive line coach and run game coordinator. His offensive line paved the way for an offense that finished with over 4,000 yards of total offense in back-to-back seasons. Ramirez played nine seasons in the NFL as an offensive lineman and played his college football at Texas Tech University under legendary head coach Mike Leach. 

James joins the Tigers after spending the last two seasons at the University of Florida as a defensive line graduate assistant. He is a native of Riverdale, Ga., and played college football at Tuskegee University. 

Marshall comes to Jackson State after spending the last three seasons at Norfolk State University as a wide receivers coach. Before his stint with the Spartans, he coached wide receivers at Southern University under Dawson Odom. Marshall has also spent time at the University of Houston, Syracuse University, and Bowling Green University. Marshall played college football at Houston, and when he graduated, he was the school’s all-time leader in receiving yards (3.770) and receptions (272).

Gallon joined JSU after spending last season as the tight ends coach at North Carolina A&T State University. Before joining the Aggies; he served as the offensive coordinator at Robert Morris University. He will be in charge of the running backs at Jackson State, a position he played at Kansas State University under Hall of Fame coach Bill Snyder. He had a brief NFL career with the New England Patriots before returning to his home state of Florida to start his coaching career. 

Jones returns home to Jackson State after a successful stint at Louisville High School (MS). A former All-American linebacker and state championship-winning coach, Jones will serve as special teams coordinator and coach the outside linebackers. He served as defensive coordinator at Louisville High and led a defense that saw the school win three MHSAA 4A State Championships over the last five seasons. The former Jackson State star was a two-time All-America selection as an outside linebacker/defensive end with 351 tackles, 77 tackles for loss, and 18.5 sacks during his career with the Tigers. 

Kiasha Trammell will join the Tigers staff as Director of Football Operations after spending last season with the XFL San Antonio Brahams. A two-time University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff graduate, Trammell started her football operations journey at UAPB as a student and then as a graduate assistant. She also spent some time at Northwestern State University as the Director of Equipment Operations before joining the staff of the San Antonio Brahams of the XFL.
