Ray’s college career came to a close on Feb. 27 in a tough 72-51 loss to Winston-Salem State in the quarterfinals of the CIAA Tournament. It was a sobering end to college career that included the high-scoring guard leading the conference in scoring 23.8, assists (5.1) and minutes en route to being named CIAA Player of The Year.
If you’ve seen “Garage Made,” the HBCU Gameday Original by filmmaker Wali Pitt, you know that even making it to college was a tremendous feat for Ray. He leaves Salisbury as the program’s all-time leader in scoring and assists as well as finishing 29th all-time in the CIAA’s scoring history.
That’s quite a feat considering some of the great players that have come through that conference. His 2,007 points were the most scored by a player in the conference since 2000.
