Two days after falling to one rival, the Hampton University men took down another one at home.
Hampton overcame a sluggish start to beat Norfolk State 64-53 in the latest edition of “The Battle of The Bay” against its former CIAA and MEAC rival.
Ben Stanley continued his brilliant play this week, putting up 22 points and 10 rebounds in the win, which ended a five-game losing streak for the Pirates. Steven Whitley led the way for the Spartans with 20 points.

Norfolk State jumped out to a 9-0 lead in the early minutes, but Hampton wedged its way back into the game and by halftime it had a 22-19 lead. The second half would belong to HiU, which shot 57 percent from the field.
Hampton’s win came on the heels of its overtime loss to Howard on Thursday.
