Alcorn State and Southern won their respective SWAC football divisions last season, but teams that finished below them in the standings will get more TV time in 2019.
The SWAC announced its 2019 ESPN broadcast schedule on Thursday and Jackson State and Prairie View lead the way with four slots each in the 13-game conference schedule.

“When we began scheduling the upcoming lineup of ESPN games we sought match-ups that would give viewers and the average fan that may not get to attend our games a strong representation of our brand of football,” said SWAC Commissioner Dr. Charles McClelland.
“This upcoming slate of games highlights several annual classics, traditional conference rivalries, and matchups that feature teams that played highly competitive games last season, while also providing viewers a unique look at the excitement and pageantry found on display any given day at a SWAC football game,” added McClelland.
Jackson State is also scheduled to play South Alabama on ESPN Plus in a non-SWAC contest on Sept. 7, giving it a total of five games on the network. Prairie View has a non-conference game on ESPN3 against the University of Houston on the same day.
Southern will get three appearances on ESPN in 2019 as will defending champ Alcorn State.
