GRAMBLING, La. | The Grambling State University men’s basketball team has officially opened practice as the Tigers took to the court on Sunday night at the Fredrick C. Hobdy Assembly Center.
It was back to the basics for the Tigers as Grambling State worked on two-man shooting, baseline slides, post defense, four-on-two and two-on-two.

“I just expect us to work hard every rep,” Grambling State second-year head coach and regining Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Coach of the Year Donte’ Jackson said. “We are trying to get out here and build off what we did last year, and keep moving forward.”
The Tigers are coming off their first SWAC regular season championship since the 1988-89 season. Grambling State went 17-14 overall and 13-5 in conference play.
Grambling State opens the season on Friday, Nov. 9 against Jarvis Christian College. Tip-off at the Fredrick C. Hobdy Assembly Center is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
