Members of the Howard volleyball team are still buzzing about their historic trip to Africa last month. While the coaches and student-athletes are stateside once again, the spirit of their trip still lies within them.
This week I got a chance to talk with Kira Porter, a rising junior, and Ciara Jones, an assistant coach, on the HBCU Gameday podcast. Not only had neither been to Africa before but they are both relatively new to the HBCU experience.

Jones played volleyball collegiately at Marquette from 2008-2012, in July she’ll be inducted into its Hall of Fame. Before coming to Howard she was an assistant coach at Clemson.
Kira Porter is a rising junior from Nevada, who never experienced HBCU culture out west. Both ladies talk about the trip, what Howard means to them and what they are looking forward to next. It’s a great listen, check it out!
