SIAC basketball kicked off conference play on Saturday and Clark Atlanta University (6-1) avenged its first loss of the season with a hearty victory at Miles College (1-5). Akil Douglas led the way with 22 points for the Panthers. Jalen Mitchell chipped in 17 points in just 15 minutes of play. Carl Garcia of Miles led all scorers with 28 points.
Tyler Edwards went for 25 points while Jaylon McMillan chipped in 21 for Fort Valley State (3-3) as the Wildcats dispatched Kentucky State (0-6). Kevin Hayes led the Thorobreds with 20 points.
Jaleel Charles came up with a double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds to lead Claflin (4-1) over Lane College (1-2). Kendarius Ash picked up a double-double as well in a losing effort, collecting 12 points and 16 rebounds.
Chris Scott made it to the free throw line 16 times en route to 25 points as he led CSU (2-3) to a five-point win over Albany State (0-6). Tylen Walker chipped in 16 points for Albany State in the loss.
