Just when you thought the fisticuffs for HBCU sports were over this week, here we go again. This time it featured young women getting into an on-court scrap as Texas Southern and Southern got into a bench-clearing brawl.

“I’ve been involved with basketball for 30-plus years and I’ve never seen anything like this. It’s an embarrassment,” Southern coach Sandy Pugh told the Baton Rouge Advocate.

The brawl started when Texas Southern’s Miracle Davis took a charge. According to the Associated Press, TSU’s Alexus Johnson and Diamonisha Sophus threw punches and had to be restrained from entering the Southern locker room.

This brawl comes just days after Tuskegee and Albany State cheerleaders were kicked out of the SIAC Tournament for fighting.

The game was ruled a double-forfeit.
