Former Morgan State Coach Hired As Norfolk State Offensive Coordinator

Donald Hill-Eley won’t be coming back to Morgan State, but he will be coaching in the MEAC in 2014. Norfolk State announced this afternoon that it has hired the former Morgan head coach as offensive coordinator and receivers coach.

“I’m very excited about adding so much quality and experience on the offensive side of the ball,” NSU head coach Pete Adrian said. “Adding two former head coaches and offensive coordinators should help strengthen our offensive unit. Our players can’t wait to get to work (next week) in spring practice.”

Norfolk State finished dead last in the MEAC in scoring offense during the 2013 season. NSU ranked ninth in both passing offense and total offense.

Hill-Eley went 59-76 in 12 seasons as Morgan State’s head coach before his contract expired last fall. That came less than a year after he received an internal email telling him that Morgan State would be letting him go.

Norfolk State also hired longtime FCS assistant Greg Gregory to coach the quarterbacks.

Norfolk State will meet Morgan State Sept. 27 in Norfolk.
