Offensive Players of The Week
Petey Boone, Elizabeth City State
It’s been a tough season for Elizabeth City State, but a game against Lincoln was just what the doctor ordered for the two-time defending CIAA North champs. Petey Boone was one of several players who had a big game, rushing for 182 yards and four touchdowns as ECSU rolled 56-14.

Justin Thorpe, Virginia State
Last week we listed Thorpe as fifth on our list of top D2 quarterbacks in HBCU football. Saturday he showed us why he may end up higher when all is said and done. Thorpe got it done through the air and on the ground, completing 20 of 33 passes for 259 yards and two touchdowns, while running for 182 yards with two more touchdowns. His final pass was a 24-yard touchdown strike to Gene Holloman to win the game in triple overtime.

Defensive Players of The Week
Darrius Moffet, Shaw
Moffet was everywhere for Shaw on Saturday. The senior linebacker recorded nine tackles, half of them behind the line of scrimmage. He also had two of Shaw’s six sacks against Livingstone.
Rookie of the Week
William Joyner, Shaw
The freshman from Clayton, NC had a big game on Saturday, making nine stops, two of them for a loss.
