Jackson State University “Thee House Party” Homecoming 2024 is Oct. 27 – Nov. 2. This week-long celebration is packed with events, including the one-and-only always highly anticipated HBCU homecoming concert, featuring Memphis, Tennessee hip-hop artist GloRilla.
“Homecoming 2024 celebrates the spirit and traditions that make Jackson State University unique. This year’s theme, ‘Thee House Party,’ captures the energy and community that define the JSU experience. We invite students, alumni, and friends to join us for a week of events that honor our legacy, showcase our creativity, and bring us together in Tiger pride. We can’t wait to welcome everyone home to THEE and celebrate what it means to be part of Tiger nation.” said Dr. Jonas Vanderbilt, vice president of Student Affairs, who serves as chair of the homecoming committee.
Get ’em Glo: GloRilla is set to take the stage on Wednesday, Oct. 30, at the Lee E. Williams Athletic & Assembly Center for an unforgettable night of epic proportions. Get ready for an evening of non-stop energy that will have you on your feet from start to finish. The second artist performing a homecoming with GloRilla will be announced on Friday, Oct. 18.
Throwback Theme: This year’s homecoming theme pays homage to the classic Kid ‘n Play era, giving a shout-out to the movie franchise started by the New York hip-hop duo. Word on the street is that JSU is the ultimate home-away-from-home for students and alumni, so the theme is fitting and reflects the fun, nurturing environment the HBCU offers.
Parade and Football Frenzy: The legendary JSU homecoming parade will take place on campus, hitting the iconic Dr. Robert Smith Parkway on Saturday, Nov. 2, kicking off at 8 a.m. Act fast because registration ends Sunday, Oct. 13. Pro Football Hall of Famer Robert “Dr. Doom” Brazile will serve as the Grand Marshal.
On game day, the JSU Tigers will take on Arkansas Pine Bluff at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2, in Veterans Memorial Stadium.
Homecoming week will be filled with exciting activities, including Street Jam, Yard Fest, Thee Greek Step Show, Thee Vendor Fair, and the return of Thee Gospel Explosion. This is just a taste of what an HBCU homecoming at Jackson State has to offer. There is much more to explore, but you must come and see for yourself.
Concert Deets: Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and the show starts at 7 p.m. General admission tickets are on sale now for $60. All residential and non-residential students can purchase tickets for just $25 through a link that will be distributed to their JSU e-mail accounts on Wednesday, Oct. 16. Limit one ticket per student. Parental supervision is required for non-JSU students and patrons under the age of 18.
