HBCU Football | FAMU vs Troy | Highlights

Reigning HBCU football champion Florida A&M University (FAMU) hit the road to face FBS opponent Troy in a non-conference matchup. Watch the highlights and check out the game recap courtesy of FAMU athletics.

TROY, Ala. –– Florida A&M fell 34-12 to Troy on the road Saturday night as their record fell to 2-2.

Daniel Richardson led the defending HBCU football champ’s passing attack with 288 yards through the air.

Thad Franklin Jr. totaled 46 yards to lead the Rattlers’ ground attack in the game, picking up 4.6 yards per carry along the way. Kelvin Dean Jr. also tacked on 20 yards on the ground.

Jamari Gassett led the receivers as he hauled in 10 catches for 141 yards.

Nay’Ron Jenkins led the FAMU defensive effort, recording eight tackles, 1.0 TFL, and one sack. 

How It Happened

After Troy opened a 7-0 lead, Florida A&M made back-to-back field goals by Cameron Gillis to make the score 7-6.

After Troy scored to increase its lead to 14-6, FAMU responded with a field goal with :05 left in the second quarter lead to cut the deficit to 14-9. Troy scored to increase its lead to 21-9 before the Rattlers scored again to close the gap and make it a 21-12 game. Florida A&M didn’t score again in the game and Troy added 13 more points to finish off the scoring.
