SEC member Arkansas football will likely kick off its season against an HBCU from the SWAC for the second year in a row next fall.
Arkansas football has agreed to host Alabama A&M on August 30, 2025. The game is set to replace the one Arkansas had previously agreed to with Missouri State on that date. The story was initially reported by WholeHogSports.com.
The SEC squad will open its season this fall against in-state HBCU Arkansas Pine-Bluff on Aug. 29. The Thursday night game at War Memorial Stadium is set to kick off at 6:30.
Coincidently, Alabama A&M is set to open its 2024 season with an SEC squad. AAMU is set to take on Auburn on Aug. 31. It started last season against another SEC program, taking on Vanderbilt in a 47-13 game loss.
Alabama A&M University has faced several FBS opponents throughout its football history but has yet to secure a victory against any of these higher-division teams. The Bulldogs have often been overmatched in these games, facing the challenges of competing against programs with larger budgets, more extensive recruiting pipelines, and greater depth. Despite the lack of wins, these matchups provide the team with valuable experience and exposure, which can be beneficial during their regular season in the SWAC. Its record against FBS teams stands at 0-15 as of 2024, reflecting the significant challenges faced by FCS programs when competing against FBS opponents.
