Miami Dolphins have former HBCU star on top of LB depth chart

A former HBCU football star is set to start at linebacker when the Miami Dolphins take on the Atlanta Falcons on Friday night.

Quinton Bell is listed at the top of the depth chart as an outside linebacker for the game. Bell played his college football at HBCU Prairie View A&M University.

Quinton Bell’s journey at Prairie View A&M University is a testament to his adaptability and athleticism. Originally playing as a wide receiver, Bell transitioned to defensive end in his senior year, where he emerged as a standout in the SWAC. His exceptional speed and pass-rushing abilities caught the attention of NFL scouts, leading to his selection by the Oakland Raiders in the 7th round of the 2019 NFL Draft.

Bell’s early NFL career saw him primarily contributing on special teams with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he played a role in the team’s Super Bowl LV victory. Afterward, he continued his NFL journey with the Atlanta Falcons, further solidifying his place in the league as a versatile and dedicated player. He signed with the Miami Dolphins in 2023 and now he looks like he will have a spot to gain significant playing time.

His success underscores the potential for HBCU athletes to excel at the professional level, especially when given opportunities to showcase their talents across different positions.
