Colorado football quarterback Shedeur Sanders will soon be protected by a former LSU player and HBCU national title-winning offensive lineman.

Former Florida A&M offensive lineman Kardell Thomas has landed on a Colorado football roster, according to Buffzone writer Brian Howell.

Thomas helped Florida A&M to a 12-1 season last year as it won the SWAC title, beat Howard University in the Celebration Bowl, and claimed the HBCU national title.

Thomas transferred to FAMU prior to the 2023 season after starting his career in the SEC. He joined LSU as part of the Tigers’ highly-touted 2019 recruiting class. Rated as a five-star prospect, Thomas was expected to make an immediate impact on LSU’s offensive line. However, his college career was marred by injuries, including a significant ankle injury during his freshman year that required surgery and limited his playing time. Despite these setbacks, Thomas remained a dedicated team player, working hard to get back on the field and contribute whenever possible.

During his time at LSU, Thomas saw limited action but was known for his perseverance and positive attitude. He was part of the 2019 national championship team, which was a highlight of his collegiate career.

Now he will head to Colorado football to add depth to an offensive line that has been charged with protecting a top NFL Draft prospect in Shedeur Sanders.
