The Boston Celtics are halfway to a title after two games of the NBA Finals, and Jayson Tatum is a big reason why.
The All-Star forward has been putting up solid all-around numbers through the first two games of the NBA Finals. Tatum has averaged a near-triple double through the first two games, putting up 17 points and 10 rebounds while averaging just under nine assists per game.
Beyond the numbers – or beneath them – Tatum is taking some HBCU magic on the court with him.
Tatum played Game Two of the NBA Finals in Boston wearing a pair of Howard University Jordan Brand PEs as the Celtics went up 2-0 in the series. The sneakers have the Bison logo on them.
The sneaker is a product of the partnership between Jordan Brand and HU. But you don’t have to be a HU student-athlete or NBA superstar to wear them.
A $300 donation to “The Mecca Society” is all you need to get a pair of the same sneakers Jayson Tatum is wearing. The Mecca Society is an alumni-led Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) Collective for Howard University.
The partnership between the two sides went into action in 2022 and the Howard University men’s basketball program has won back-to-back MEAC Tournament titles since after not winning one since 1992.
It’s gotta be the shoes?
