NBA Draft Combine picks WSSU coach to work sessions

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Cleo Hill Jr., head coach of the Winston-Salem State (WSSU) men’s basketball team, has been selected to work the 2024 NBA Draft Combine.

Hill Jr. was selected to work the on-court basketball sessions at the NBA Draft combine which will take place May 13-15 in Chicago.

Cleo Hill Jr. was named the CIAA Men’s Basketball Coach of the Year after finishing the season 19-9 overall, with a .680 win percentage, Hill and the Rams went 13-5 in the CIAA and 9-1 at home. Hill coached his team to a perfect 6-0 sweep of the Northern division. Hill has led WSSU to 59 wins over the past three seasons.

WSSU finished the season ranked 10th in the D2CSC ranking and have been ranked in the Atlantic Region eight times this season. Hill had two players (Jaylen Alston and Issac Parson) who were named HBCU Player of the Week. One player was named CIAA Player of the Week back-to-back weeks and also a player (Imaje Dodd) has been named CIAA Defensive Player of Week three separate times including back-to-back weeks.  Under Hill this year WSSU scored 70.3 points per game. The Rams are 2nd in the CIAA in scoring defense averaging 63.2 points per game, and first in scoring margin (7.1). His team is second in field goal percentage (0.458), first in opponent field goal percentage (0.392), fourth in 3-point field goals made, and first in team defensive rebounds (27.0).
