HBCU Track and Field Shines at Texas Relays

The 96th annual Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays finished up in Austin, Texas. Day 2 saw several standout performances from HBCU Track and Field athletes.

The Howard women’s 4x400m team advanced to Saturday’s final round at the Texas Relays. They finished 7th in the with a time of 3:39.87.

In the women’s 4x100m relay, Howard qualified in second place with a time of 44.78. The Lady Bison ran 44.37 finishing 4th in the final round of the Texas Relays.

Coppin State Mens 4x400m

The Coppin State represented HBCU Track and Field by advancing to the 4x400m final. Coppin State finished 9th in the prelims with a time of 3:11.26. They went on to finish 6th in the finals with a time of 3:10.22

Ja’Leak PerryHoward

Ja’Leak Perry of Howard ran a 10.32 100m dash in the U/C Timed Final. The time helped him finish 13th out of 109 runners.

Field Events

In the men’s High Jump Caleb Snowden of UAPB finished in 1st place 2.26m (7-05). Southern’s Roman Smith tied for 5th place in Section B 2.11m (6-11). In the women’s High Jump Howard’s Nyagoa Bayak finished tied for 5th place in Section B 1.70m (5-7) and Grambling’s Jamie Richardson tied for 8th place 1.65m (5-5).

The Mens Triple Jump Section B saw three HBCU athletes finish 3rd-5th place Kyle Fisher-Howard, Kevon Hamilton- Southern, Ledamian Rowell- Jackson State
