Norfolk State University ended its basketball season on a winning note, claiming the 2024 CollegeInsider.com Tournament (CIT) title.
NSU put up a fierce comeback from a halftime deficit to down Purdue Fort Wayne 75-64 at Joseph Echols Hall.
Purdue Fort Wayne led 41-31 at halftime as it hit nine 3-pointers in the game’s first 20 minutes. NSU outscored PFU 44-26 in the second half to come away with the victory.
Christian Ings scored a team-high 17 points, hitting seven of his nine field goal attempts, including two 3-pointers in the win and was named CIT Most Valuable Player. He was one of four Spartans to score double-figures, along with Allen Betrand (16 points), Jaylani Darden (11 points) and Jamarii Thomas (10 points). They shot just under 55 percent from the field from the game and hit nearly 57 of their field goal attempts in the second half.
The MEAC regular season champion, Norfolk State finishes the season with a 24-11 record – including two wins in the CIT.
