HBCU basketball players across the country are scrapping for conference titles, individual accolades and a spot in the 2024 HBCU All Star game in Phoenix, Arizona. Chris Martin from Clark Atlanta has elevated himself and his team this season, making an incredible case for SIAC Player of the Year.
The 6 foot 2″ guard has stormed through the conference this year averaging over 18 points per game leading his team to a 21-4 record with two games left in the regular season. At one point CAU reeled off 13 straight wins. The Panthers have their eyes set on not only a conference championship but a national title.
Martin isn’t fixated on scoring, even though it comes quite naturally to the Charlotte, North Carolina native.
“I just want to win, I hate to lose, it’s not about the scoring or the highlight plays. I would do anything to win. Dive on the floor, guard the best player, I’m one of those type players,” Martin said.
The SIAC Tournament tips off Sunday March 3 in Savannah, Georgia. The final selections for the HBCU All Star game will be announced on March 18. The HBCU All Star game airs live on April 7 on the CBS Television Network.
