Virginia Union’s women’s basketball squad will enter the CIAA Tournament with the target on its back once again while Fayetteville State will as well. Both VUU and FSU are the top seeds in the 2019 CIAA Tournament.
VUU, the defending women’s champ, has claimed the CIAA North title fourth consecutive year. It will take the court on Wednesday afternoon in Bojangles Coliseum at 4:30 PM where it will face the Virginia State-Livingstone winner from Tuesday.

Southern Division champ Fayetteville State will take on the winner of Chowan-Claflin at 2:20 PM on Wednesday. The winner of that game, along with Virginia Union’s Wednesday contest, will have the day off on Thursday before appearing in the semifinals on Friday in Spectrum Arena.
Johnson C. Smith and Bowie State will start play on Thursday after clinching the second spots in the South and North respectively. JCSU will play Wednesday’s Lincoln-St. Aug winner on Thursday at 3 PM. BSU will take on either Winston-Salem State or the winner of Shaw-Elizabeth City State on Thursday.
The opening rounds of the tournament will take place at Bojangles Coliseum, tipping-off on Monday evening and conclude on Wednesday night. The quarterfinals through the championship games will be played in Spectrum Center.
