Salisbury, NC –  The Livingstone College family suffered a tragic loss on Sunday, as former Blue Bear football player Stan Smith passed away.

Smith became a member of the Blue Bear football team in 2016 as a wide receiver.

“A great young man, great athlete, great leader on and off the field,” Blue Bears head coach Daryl Williams said.

Smith came to Livingstone from Cass Tech High School from Detroit, Michigan where he was a standout high school player.

“Stan Smith was a tremendous representative of our school and a beloved member of the Blue Bear football team,” said Livingstone College Director of Athletics Andre Springs. “My thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, teammates and fellow students.”

Funeral services are pending.
