Morehouse star Walker works out with the Knicks

One of the top players in HBCU basketball last season is getting the chance to show the pros what he can do.

Former Morehouse guard Tyrius Walker worked out for the New York Knicks on Tuesday. Walker signed Morehouse alumnus Darrell Comer as his agent.

The Knicks have a Morehouse connection as former Maroon Tiger star Harold Ellis was hired as player personnel director last year. Walker was named SIAC Player of The Year as a senior after scoring 22.8 points per game during the regular season while leading his team to a 25-3 record.

The Knicks have a strong history with HBCU players, including the 1973 championship team that included three stars from HBCUs.

Two weeks ago Morgan State teammates Tywain Kendley and Phillip Carr, along with former Howard star James Daniel, worked out for the Washington Wizards.
