ATLANTA, Ga — SIAC Commissioner, Gregory Moore, and the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Council of Presidents have agreed to a five-year contract extension, announced Monday by the league office. As the league’s fourth full-time Commissioner, since his appointment by the Council of Presidents in 2009, the SIAC has continued its 15-year streak of ranking first in average football attendance, created a football championship game, added the sport of golf, and added three member institutions (Central State, Spring Hill College, and Savannah State University).
“By almost every objective measure the SIAC has grown stronger under the visionary leadership of Commissioner Moore. As Chairman of the SIAC Council of Presidents, I note and am appreciative of the support of our member presidents of Commissioner Moore’s proven and focused leadership, which has resulted in an obvious competitive advantage for the SIAC. The board is extremely pleased with the commissioner’s performance for what has been a near-decade transformation of our conference. We look forward to the continuation of his outstanding leadership and the advancement of the SIAC over the next five years,” said SIAC Council of Presidents Chairman, Dr. George T. French Jr.
Commissioner Moore stated, “I am grateful and humbled by the trust accorded to me by the SIAC Council of Presidents. My staff and I look forward to continuing our daily effort to identify creative and innovative opportunities to create meaningful value and enhanced experiences for our member institutions, student-athletes, alumni, and fans.”
The agreement runs through the 2023-24 academic year.
