Southern (4-3, 2-1 SWAC) took the lead for good when Kendall Catalon scored on a four-yard run with 6:35 left in the second quarter to help give the Jags a 14-10 advantage.

Edwards helped increase the lead with 21-10 with 10:35 left in the third quarter on a one-yard score. The Tigers (0-7, 0-3 SWAC) cut into the lead when Miguel James scored on a 29-yard receiving score from Jordan Williams late in the third.

But that’s as close as Jackson State would get as Southern answered with a 6-yard touchdown reception by Jamar Washington from Howard for the game’s final score.
