Southern is one step closer to locking in its football coach for a long(er) term deal.
Dawson Odums has agreed in principle to a deal that would extend his current contract two seasons and give him a slight bump in pay, according to the Baton Rouge Advocate.
Odums, heading into his fifth year as the Jaguars head coach, will be at Southern through the 2019 season and his pay will go from $175,000 per year to $180,000.
“He’s going to be getting a modest raise throughout the end,” Odums’ agent Burton Rocks told the paper. “It’s incremental each year. It’s a good raise because of the economic situation Southern is in.”
SU has gone 29-7 in SWAC play since he took over the program full-time in 2013 after serving as the interim coach in 2012. He led the team to the 2013 SWAC title and the 2014 title game.
