Texas Southern’s road journeys continued on Saturday, as TxSo traveled to Kentucky to face Louisville. Louisville came away with a relatively easy 102-71 win over their opponents from the SWAC, but there were some bright spots.
Trae Jefferson scored 27 points in his first-ever college basketball game, though it took him 30 attempts. But the shining performance for the Tigers was that of Derrick Griffin. The SWAC’s reigning player of the year put up 15 points and 26 rebounds in the loss.
Heroes of The Night
– Griffin’s 15 and 26 against Louisville were impressive even in a blowout loss.
– Duby Maduegbunam put up 26 points and 14 rebounds in Morehouse’s 80-74 win over Lane
– Anthony Virdue dropped 29 points as Lincoln (MO) beat Pittsburg State 71-55
Highlight of the Night
Ray Anderson only scored 15 points (he averages 22 per game), but this basket with 1.2 seconds left helped lift Virginia Union to a 77-75 win over CIAA rival Shaw.
