The NCAA Division II football playoff field is set. Three HBCUs, Tuskegee, Virginia State and Winston-Salem State, had playoff dreams to start the day.
WSSU is in as a seventh seed in Super Regional 1. They will play at second-seeded LIU Post (11-0)on Saturday. WSSU finished 9-2, capping the season off with a second-straight CIAA championship with a 43-33 win over Bowie State on Saturday. This will mark WSSU’s first playoff appearance since 2013.
Tuskegee is also in the playoffs as a number seven seed in Super Regional 2. TU will play at Newberry on Saturday as they finished 8-2 with a loss to Virginia State.
Virginia State will not make the playoffs despite its 8-2 record.
