Bethune-Cookman hoped to extend the MEAC’s winning streak in its opening week showcase while Alcorn State hoped to end the SWAC’s five-year drought when the two teams met in Daytona, Florida on Sunday.
Neither happened.
After multiple weather delays caused by lightening, the game was ultimately suspended and called off. Alcorn State led 13-7 with 7:14 left in the second quarter before play stalled, but neither team will pick up a win or a loss.
