The Prairie View A&M University family is mourning the loss of one of its own. Former Prairie View football signee Darius Matthew Edwards was shot and killed during a party in Waller County, according to KRTV.com.

Edwards 22, was a member of the 2011 signing football class for the Panthers, but never got to play due to injuries that would sidelined his football career.

Sheriff’s deputies say no suspects have been identified. The Texas Rangers have been called to assist sheriff’s deputies.
