Happy Founders Day, DST

All over the country on this and every January 13, you will find clusters of beaming black women wearing crimson and creme and making signs with their hands. The reason, of course, is that Jan. 13 is the official Founders Day for Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

Of course, this is a blog about black college sports, so it’s only right that we honor the legendary Wilma Rudolph. The Tennessee State track star was the first woman to win three gold medals in one Olympic Games, the 1960 Rome Games. (Tennessee State took home a total of seven gold medals that summer.) Rudolph won gold at the 100 and 200-meter sprints, as well as in the 4 x 100.

Check out this mini biography to learn more about Ms. Rudolph.

Happy Founders Day to Ms. Rudolph, and all of our Delta followers.
