Hours after the racist chants of Oklahoma’s Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity went viral, at least one OU athlete is speaking out. Linebacker Eric Striker posted a response via Snapchat, acknowledging that many of the people who claim they don’t want “niggers” in their fraternity cheer black athletes at the school.
No doubt, Striker’s comments hit home for many athletes. Not just the ones who currently attend Oklahoma, but also the ones who have attended PWIs, only to find out that they are not always welcome in many spaces on their own campuses. This isn’t a new thing, but its rare to hear it directly from the mouth of a current athlete.
The incident has sparked heavy debate on Twitter about the prevelance of this kind of contrast at many, if not all PWIs.
University of Oklahoma frat members chant “There will never be a n*gger in SAE”…but a black man can score touchdowns for them, right?
