Nearly 50 years after he played his last game for North Carolina College, Sam Jones will have his college jersey number will be retired. North Carolina Central will retire the Basketball Hall of Famer’s no. 41 jersey during its double-header with North Carolina A&T on March 5.
The ten-time NBA Champion and five time NBA All-Star is currently second in scoring all-time in school history. He scored 1,745 points during his collegiate career.
Jones’ jersey retirement comes a little over a month after rival A&T announced it was retiring the jersey of former NBA player and coach Al Attles.
