Texas Southern may be the defending SWAC Champions, but even that might pale in comparison to what just happened in Lansing, Michigan. TSU traveled to Michigan State with one win and will return home with a big one, upsetting MSU 71-64 in overtime.
The Tigers (2-8) kept it close in the first half, trailing just 30-25 at halftime before forcing overtime with a 30-25 tilt in the second half.
Michigan State shot just 39 percent from the field and 57 percent from the free throw line.
Chris Thomas scored a game-high 22 points for TSU. Malcolm Riley added 20 points off the bench as the Tigers won despite being out-rebounded 41 to 28.
