Sources: Scott to be named Norfolk State coach

By Steven J. Gaither

After rebuilding his career at the Division II level, Latrell Scott looks to be headed back to the FCS. Multiple sources tell HBCU Gameday that Scott will leave Virginia State to take over at Norfolk State.

Scott’s first head coaching job was at Richmond, where he coached one season at the FCS level. A press conference is expected to take place on Tuesday.

The Virginian Pilot first reported that Scott was a candidate for the job last week after long-time NSU coach Pete Adrian retired following the 2014 season.

Scott led Virginia State to two CIAA Northern Division titles and a CIAA Championship in his brief tenure at the school. Scott finished 19-5 at Virginia State.
