Prairie View’s football season is over and so is coach Heishema Northern’s tenure. PVAM AD Ashley Robinson announced today that the coach’s contract would not be renewed.

“I wish to thank Coach Northern for his contributions to Prairie View A&M both on and off the field,” said Robinson. “This was a difficult decision but after careful review and consideration, I have decided to take the program in a different direction.”

Northern’s four-year record at Prairie View is 19-25, including a 5-5 finish this season.

Defensive back Bubba McDowell, a former NFL safety, will serve as interim head coach while the program searches for a new leader.
