JCSU, WSSU To Lock Up In The QC

Winston-Salem State at Johnson C. Smith

Johnson C. Smith comes into this game desperate for a win after a 1-4 start. The Golden Bulls have been shut out in three of their first five games, and come in averaging just under eight points per game.

JCSU will also have to compete against history, as it has lost its last 13 matchups against WSSU, and 31 of the last 33 overall.

Halfway through the 2014 season, the jury is still out on Winston-Salem State. Sure, WSSU is 4-1, nationally ranked, and on a three-game winning streak. But when you’ve won in the playoffs three years in a row, you’re held to a higher standard. Case in point, last week, WSSU beat Chowan 77-30, yet actually dropped in the national rankings.

With that in mind, the pressure will be on WSSU’s offense to continue producing points at a premium and its defense to tighten up.

Prediction: WSSU over JCSU.
