Jackson State’s Qua Cox got a major endorsement from ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. |
With just days before the start of the NFL Draft, several HBCU players are starting to see their stock rise. Draft guru Mel Kiper Jr. posted his Top 2014 Draft Sleepers on Monday and three HBCU players were among them. Kiper listed Jackson State’s Qua Cox, Virginia Union’s Devin Wallace and Virginia University of Lynchburg’s Keith Lewis as players flying under the radar.
All three players play defensive back.
Cox picked off ten passes in his four seasons at JSU, often forcing teams to avoid throwing to his side all together. He played in the Senior Bowl as well as the Medal of Honor Bowl after helping JSU to second-straight SWAC East Title.
Wallace started his career at the University of Virginia before coming to Virginia Union. The 6’0, 200 pound defensive back broke up eighteen passes in 2013.
Lewis came on strong in his senior season, picking off eight passes. He joined Cox in the Medal of Honor Bowl after the season.
The NFL Draft starts Thursday on ESPN.
