Less than six weeks after parting ways with a legend, Coppin State is ready to begin the new era in its basketball program. Michael Grant will replace Ron “Fang” Mitchell as CSU coach, the school announced in a press release today.
While Grant will be new to the MEAC, he is a familiar name in HBCU basketball circles. He’s spent the last eight years coaching Stillman in the SIAC. Prior to that, he was the head coach at Southern, where he took over for another legend in Ben Jobe.
Grant went 100-73 at Stillman. Coppin State finished 12-20 in 2014.
