So apparently today is Bullets Day, as in the Washington Bullets. Back in the day, the Bullets were one of the teams that actively scouted and drafted players from the HBCU ranks. The Baltimore Bullets took Earl Monroe second overall in the 1967 Draft, the highest-ever selection from an HBCU. But Earl “The Pearl” was one of dozens of ex-black college players that wore the red, white and blue.
