Former Catawba coach Chip Hester is reportedly joining the A&T staff. |
Ask any North Carolina A&T football fan what the biggest problem in 2013 was, and they’ll likely give you the same answer: the passing game. Well, it looks like help is on the way for A&T. Football Scoop is reporting that former Catawba (NC) head coach Chip Hester will be named A&T’s new receiver coach.
Hester was a successful coach on the Division II level, leading Catawba to a 70-49 record in 11 seasons as head coach. Two of his team’s won conference championships, and he led his team to the Division II playoffs three times.
A&T’s passing game wasn’t awful last season–it ranked third in pass efficiency and seventh in overall passing–but it was a weak link on a team with a strong defense and a good running game. The passing game will likely need to be better as the defense lost several key players and might not be as stout in 2014.
